01

Identify what matters

List critical applications, data stores, devices, accounts, and external dependencies. Record an owner and the business process each supports. Include supplier-operated services. This creates a starting point for discussion; it is not a complete security assessment.

02

Understand access

Know how access is granted, reviewed, and removed. Identify who approves production changes and where privileged accounts are used. Discuss authentication, recovery, and administrative access with the responsible team. Follow your internal process when changing controls.

03

Ask about recovery

A backup existing is different from a recovery process working. Identify what needs to be recovered, the dependencies involved, and who owns the procedure. Review when it was last exercised in an authorised environment. Record uncertainties so that they can be prioritised with the business owner.

04

Turn questions into priorities

Consider business impact, exposure, and the effort needed to address an issue. A clear set of next actions with owners is more useful than an unprioritised list of possible controls. The NIST Cybersecurity Framework is an external reference for discussing risk; it does not certify EchoBastion.
